Terms & Conditions
These Terms govern your access to and use of the Fold website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”). By using Fold, you agree to these Terms.
1. Company Information
The Platform is operated by Fold Technologies LLC (“Fold,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
2. Nature of the Platform
Fold is a technology platform that helps customers schedule and manage laundry logistics by connecting:
- Customers seeking laundry services;
- Independent third-party laundromats registered or partnered with Fold; and
- Independent contractor drivers who provide pickup and delivery services.
Fold does not own or operate laundromats and does not employ drivers. Laundromats and drivers are independent third parties. Fold’s guarantee is limited to efficient logistics facilitation and Platform functionality.
3. Eligibility & Accounts
- You must be 18 years or older to use the Platform.
- Accounts are created using an email address and phone number.
- We discourage multiple accounts. Creating multiple accounts may cause confusion and may be treated as suspicious depending on usage patterns.
- Misuse, abuse, attempts to exploit loopholes, fraud, or policy evasion may result in account suspension or termination.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.
4. Services & Order Flow
The Platform enables a customer to select a laundromat (typically displaying the closest options first) and to request pickup and delivery logistics. A standard order generally follows this flow:
- Customer places an order via the website or the Fold customer app.
- An independent driver picks up laundry from the customer’s specified location.
- The laundry is delivered to the customer-selected independent laundromat.
- After the laundromat marks the laundry as ready, an independent driver delivers it back to the customer.
Fold does not provide laundry cleaning services and does not guarantee the outcomes of laundering performed by third parties.
5. Pricing, Payments & Fees
- Payments are processed via Stripe.
- Accepted payment methods: credit and debit cards. Cash is not accepted.
- Customers are typically charged after placing a booking.
- If the laundromat determines the actual weight differs from the weight specified by the customer, the laundromat may adjust the price and the customer may be recharged accordingly.
- Taxes, service fees, and delivery fees may apply and will be presented during checkout or in order details.
Tipping is optional. If provided, tips go to drivers and are divided equally between the pickup and delivery legs.
6. Cancellations & Refunds
- You may cancel an order only before a driver has picked up your laundry.
- Once your laundry is picked up, you cannot cancel the order.
- If you cancel before pickup, you are eligible for a full refund.
- Any issues or complaints must be reported within 12 hours of delivery.
Payment disputes or reversals (including bank/card disputes) may result in order review and may lead to account restrictions if misuse is suspected.
7. Laundry Responsibility & Liability
Fold is a marketplace and logistics facilitator. The selected laundromat is solely responsible for laundry services and outcomes, including but not limited to: shrinkage, color bleeding, fabric damage, missing buttons/zippers, or lost items.
- Do not include high-value items unless you accept full responsibility for any loss or damage.
- You are responsible for checking pockets and removing valuables before pickup.
- You are responsible for following garment care requirements and labeling special handling needs where supported.
Any high-value or sensitive items included in an order are submitted at the customer’s own risk.
8. Pickup & Delivery
- You may choose to leave your laundry outside your door for pickup if you are unavailable.
- If you are not home during delivery, laundry may be left outside your door or at a reception desk (if available), depending on your building and delivery circumstances.
- Leaving items unattended is optional and is at your discretion and risk.
- Photo proof of pickup and/or delivery may be captured for verification and support resolution.
Once delivery is completed, Fold is not responsible for theft, loss, or damage after drop-off.
9. Drivers (Independent Contractors)
Drivers on the Platform are independent contractors and are not employees of Fold. Fold does not control the manner in which drivers perform services, beyond Platform requirements intended to support safety, logistics coordination, and service quality.
10. Platform Availability
We aim to keep the Platform reliable and available; however, uninterrupted access is not guaranteed. The Platform may be impacted by downtime, maintenance, connectivity issues, GPS inaccuracies, notification delays, or other technical limitations.
Fold may modify, suspend, or discontinue features or services, in whole or in part, at any time.
11. Intellectual Property
The Platform (including software, design, branding, logos, and content) is owned by Fold Technologies LLC or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Platform without prior written permission.
12. User Content
You may be able to submit content such as ratings, reviews, comments, or photos (“User Content”). By submitting User Content, you grant Fold a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute such content for operational and marketing purposes, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.
13. Privacy
Use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and share data (including location data used for service delivery and logistics). Please review it here: Privacy Policy.
14. Promotions
Fold may offer promotional discounts or promo codes from time to time. Eligibility, duration, and terms may vary and will be communicated to customers, including via email where applicable. Fold reserves the right to modify, revoke, or discontinue promotions at any time, particularly where misuse is suspected.
15. Force Majeure
Fold is not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside reasonable control, including severe weather conditions, natural disasters, power outages, strikes, or government actions. When possible, we will notify customers through the app and/or other communication channels about significant delays.
16. Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
To reduce legal risk and keep dispute handling efficient, Fold may require disputes to be resolved on an individual basis (not as a class action), and may require binding arbitration where permitted by law. Specific procedures may be described in a future update to these Terms.
If a mandatory arbitration or class-action waiver provision is not permitted under applicable law, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, and the remainder of the Terms will remain in effect.
17. Changes to These Terms
Fold may update these Terms from time to time. We may notify users by website updates, in-app notices, and/or email notifications. Continued use of the Platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
